Antimonopoly Committee Rejects Kyivstar’s Bid to Acquire GigaCloud
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has rejected mobile operator Kyivstar’s bid to acquire a controlling stake in the Ukrainian cloud services provider GigaCloud, the committee told Forbes Ukraine.
- According to the AMCU, the rejection was because «the application did not meet the requirements of the regulations on the procedure for considering applications and cases concerning the concentration of business entities.»
- In September, it was announced that Kyivstar had applied to the committee to acquire a stake in GigaCloud. At the time, reports suggested the deal would involve an 80% stake and could be worth up to $30 million.
- One of Kyivstar’s top managers, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the acquisition would help the company accelerate the development of its cloud business. GigaCloud, for its part, described the potential deal as a «strategic partnership» aimed at «implementing ambitious and innovative plans.»
- Kyivstar submitted a second application to acquire GigaCloud on October 24, 2025. «The committee is analyzing the documents attached to the second application,» the AMCU said in its response.
