Ukrainian Demining Technology UADamage Attracts $400k in Investment

Ukrainian startup UADamage has secured $400,000 in investment to scale up its AI-powered solutions for humanitarian demining, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov has announced.

  • The names of the investors have not been disclosed.
  • UADamage is a resident of the Brave1 defense technology cluster, from which it received a grant in 2023.
  • The cluster also supports the startup by providing access to field trials, partnerships with other tech teams, industry conferences, and expert feedback.

About the Company

  • UADamage develops tools that reduce risks for bomb disposal experts and help return mined territories to safe, livable conditions faster, more precisely, and without harming the environment. Its software runs on drones equipped with sensors, computer vision, and AI to detect mines and explosive devices while mapping mine-contaminated areas.

«We combine drone imagery, multiple sensors, spatial analytics, and AI algorithms so that deminers know what to expect before they go into the field,» explains CEO Vitalii Lopushanskyi.

  • This approach not only minimizes danger for deminers but also dramatically speeds up the process. According to Lopushanskyi, a single specialist can clear up to 100 m² of territory per day, while the UADamage system can process up to 10,000 m² at the same time.
  • Fedorov estimates that around 137,000 m² of Ukraine’s territory is currently mined as a result of the war, making demining a critical national priority. UADamage’s technology is already playing an active role in this effort.
  • According to Defender media, since the start of the full-scale invasion, UADamage has created orthophoto plans for areas including Posad-Pokrovsky, Bakhmut, Bucha, Irpin, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kupiansk. In total, the company has already surveyed over 61,000 m² of minefields and digitized more than 520,000 m² of territory.
