It marked the startup\u2019s third investment in just two months. In December 2024, Frontline <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.media\/2024\/12\/23\/frontline-zaluchyv-150-000-vid-angel-one\/\">secured<\/a> $150,000 from Angel One and <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.media\/2024\/12\/10\/ukrayinskyj-frontline-zaluchyv-100-000-vid-startup-wise-guys\/\">$100,000<\/a> from Startup Wise Guys.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The company is currently in the middle of a seed round, aiming to <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.media\/en\/investment-base\/?search=frontline&date_range=\">raise<\/a> $800,000. According to the founders, they\u2019ve already closed half the round. Originally, the team dreamed of raising $5 million, but that goal remains on the horizon. So, how is Frontline evolving?   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Frontline Started<\/h2>\n\n<p>In the summer of 2023, four co-founders \u2014 Yevhen, Pavlo, Oleksii, and Oleksandr \u2014 were working at a defense robotics company. But they wanted to build something scalable that every soldier on the front line could use. Their ultimate goal is to significantly boost the strength of assault units, quantitatively and qualitatively.<\/p>\n\n<p>After many late-night talks, they made a bold decision: to work \u00abfor ourselves and for free.\u00bb Their first focus was developing EW-resistant control modules for FPV and bomber drones \u2014 solutions that required fewer resources but delivered high impact.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u00ab\u041b\u0456\u043d\u0437\u0430\u00bb, \u0440\u0435\u0431\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0456\u0439\u043a\u0438\u0439 \u043a\u043e\u043f\u0442\u0435\u0440-\u0431\u043e\u043c\u0431\u0435\u0440\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/npDvjQmS5LQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<p>They rented a tiny, poorly renovated office \u2014 stiflingly hot in the summer and freezing in the winter \u2014 and got to work on their first prototypes while simultaneously looking for funding.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Raising Startup Capital<\/h2>\n\n<p>That original $5 million target? In hindsight, it was incredibly ambitious and unrealistic. \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Eventually, they connected through mutual contacts with a Ukrainian in the US who had money and was eager to invest in a meaningful cause.  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>The team scaled back their proposal, presented it, received feedback, and went back to the drawing board \u2014 again and again.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Finally, on the fourth pitch, just when they\u2019d lost hope, Oleksandr decided to back their first project: a reconnaissance drone.<\/p>\n\n<p>Later, in Kyiv, they pitched a broader vision of robotic assault (including multiple robots, computer vision, and homing capabilities) to the American D3 investment firm. After a long silence, they were invited to a technical interview with a US defense expert.   <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The meeting was intense: lots of challenges, debates, and a full technical review of their ideas and team.<br\/>That effort paid off \u2014 D3 invested in their pre-seed round. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges and Breakthroughs<\/h2>\n\n<p>Many startups begin the same way: just an idea and a surge of energy. It\u2019s a magical time \u2014 pure creativity. <\/p>\n\n<p>Then comes success. But it almost never looks like what you originally envisioned. There are compromises, growing pains, but also real progress. <\/p>\n\n<p>At this point, the focus shifts from ideas to building, scaling, and maintaining a real product.<\/p>\n\n<p>And that\u2019s when the hard, often unglamorous, work starts: fixing bugs, setting up production, managing a growing team. The creative spark makes way for routine \u2014 but essential \u2014 tasks. This is the normal, necessary evolution of any serious project. They bring deep technical expertise, as well as direct communication with the military \u2014 many of whom are friends and former colleagues. At the same time, they\u2019re serious about business operations: management, legal, and financial infrastructure.  <\/p>\n\n<p>They don\u2019t see other Ukrainian manufacturers as competition, but as partners \u2014 united in building a technological edge for victory.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Frontline Builds<\/h2>\n\n<p>Frontline\u2019s product lineup reflects its mission: in the wars of today and tomorrow, humans will fight with the help of robots. Their goal is to reduce the number of people directly exposed to combat by creating robotic solutions that take on those risks. <\/p>\n\n<p>So far, they\u2019ve built and deployed three key products:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Linza \u2014 an EW-resistant bomber drone, in both day and night versions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ZOOM \u2014 an EW-resistant reconnaissance drone, also in day and night versions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burya \u2014 a remote weapon station for the MK-19 grenade launcher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>But no matter how advanced a device is, it\u2019s useless if you can\u2019t control it. That\u2019s why Frontline\u2019s core innovation is a proprietary communication platform designed to work even under heavy electronic warfare conditions.  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>All of their products are actively used on the front line, supporting Ukraine\u2019s Armed Forces Operation.<\/p>\n\n<p>Production is based in Ukraine, and by the end of the year, Frontline aims to become the country\u2019s largest manufacturer of reconnaissance drones and fire-support turrets. <\/p>\n\n<p>Their client is a Ukrainian military. They collaborate closely with frontline units to gather feedback and continuously improve product performance. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Funding and the Road Ahead<\/h2>\n\n<p>As of January 2025, Frontline has already closed half of its seed round and expects to share more funding news soon.<\/p>\n\n<p>To recap, the company is currently raising $800,000 in this round. In 2023, it closed a pre-seed round with the investment firm D3 and a private investor.
