Ukrainian-Founded Defense-Tech Startup Sky Spy Raises $1.6M
Sky Spy, a company developing compact radio-technical intelligence systems, has announced the closing of its pre-seed investment round, as reported by Defender Media.
- The company raised $1.6 million in this pre-seed round.
- The funding will support the company’s market entry, the launch of production, and team expansion as it begins supplying fully autonomous, AI-enabled systems.
- Investors include Expeditions Fund and Superangel, joined by Freedom Fund, Sunfish Partners, Crosscourt Ventures, and Material Ventures.
- Sky Spy operates as a dual-use project, building products for both defense and civilian applications.
- Founded by a team with Ukrainian roots, the company now operates across the US and EU. Its international team brings together deep technical expertise and operational experience directly from active combat zones.
Sky Spy was launched to address a critical gap in SIGINT capabilities in today’s saturated signal environment. The war in Ukraine has demonstrated that troops must navigate thousands of civilian, commercial, and military transmitters. In practice, many units are forced to rely on visual reconnaissance because traditional ground and airborne SIGINT systems struggle to deliver reliable, timely results in dense, conflict-heavy environments. As a result, up to 80% of small, high-priority targets went undetected.
Sky Spy’s flagship product, Agent 001, recently completed successful field validation.
«The system has proven its ability to detect and geolocate hostile emitters — including UAS control stations and jammers — in one of the world’s most saturated and contested electromagnetic environments. Soldiers described Agent 001 as the first solution of its kind that has proven its capability in live combat situations,» the company said.
Unlike existing systems designed for large aircraft or static networks, Agent 001 performs the entire signal-processing cycle on board, enabling immediate response without external computing resources. It integrates with any active COP/C2 infrastructure at a fraction of the cost of legacy SIGINT platforms, making it accessible for both defense and commercial customers.
