Ukrainian Patreon Accounts Blocked for Supporting the Defense Forces of Ukraine

Director and podcaster Nariman Aliev reported that Patreon deleted the account of his project MINCULTPRYVIT. This marks the second of his accounts affected earlier — the Bromance podcast page was also removed. According to Aliev, the reason for the deletions was support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

«The official letter of reasons for the deletion reads: ‘Patreon cannot be used to finance the purchase of weapons (for example, guns, missiles, armor) or other military activities for the armed forces or other groups that are actively involved in the conflict.’ Examples of rule violations included episodes where we collected money for military training at the Yatagan and Boryviter schools,» Bromance noted.

Aliev explained that the MINCULTPRYVIT page was deleted because Patreon linked him to Bromance, seeing the connection and blocking both pages simultaneously.

It appears a similar situation affected Телебачення Торонто, whose Patreon account was deleted earlier. Телебачення Торонто did not disclose the reason for the deletion, as Patreon provided no detailed explanation.

The wave of account removals also reached Клятий Раціоналіст.

«Patreon deleted my page — the page where you supported me for six years. I wasn’t accused of any violations, but they deleted my page because they somehow linked me to other authors whose pages were removed for violations. Cool explanation, right?» said Artem Albul, creator of the Клятий Раціоналіст channel.

Following these deletions, many Ukrainian creators are migrating to Base by mono, a local platform supportive of Ukrainian authors.
