Three Military Innovations Receive $22,000 in Grants at Lviv Showcase
On September 25, a closed-door event called the Combat-Driven Innovation Showcase took place in Lviv, where the Ukrainian military presented innovative solutions developed and tested on the battlefield. Out of ten participating teams, three received grants totaling $22,000.
«The military are not only end users, but also creators, performers, and developers. We are here to open a new chapter in defense technology and give the military a pen with which they themselves will write. We are here to support our military developers and innovators, and we are excited about the potential they are about to unlock,» said Viktoriia Honcharuk («Tori»), Head of Defense Tech at the Snake Island Institute.
Grant Program Winners
- Dronebase received $10,000 for its software management system that automates the configuration and accounting of FPV drones.
- Toad was awarded $7,000 for developing an inexpensive disposable electronic warfare device that can be dropped from the air near enemy FPV launch sites.
- Direktoria received $5,000 for its autonomous ground turret armed with interceptor missiles designed for «hard-kill» drone countermeasures.

A total of ten teams showcased their developments, ranging from drone automation and electronic warfare devices to ground-based interceptors.
About the Combat-Driven Innovation Showcase
- The event aims to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine by scaling and implementing innovations created directly on the front lines, providing teams with funding, materials, and expertise. It also seeks to set new global standards in military technology by introducing these solutions to international investors and industry partners.
- Alongside the competition, informal networking allowed participants to connect with potential partners, investors, and mentors.
- The Combat-Driven Innovation Showcase is organized by the non-profit Snake Island Institute, defense accelerator AB3 TECH, and Women in Defense Tech, in collaboration with the Third Army Corps and partners including venture studio Bifrost Defence, Project Q, and STARK.
- Supporting partners also include venture funds and defense companies such as Double Tap Investments Ltd, Trypillian, Green Flag Ventures, IRON Cluster, Invest in Bravery, and the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry.
