The Texas AI Challenge was held in Dallas on August 7. The competition targets early-stage AI startups in Texas (from MVP to Seed) and is organized by the Pro-Forma startup platform together with the Texas AI Association. Winners are awarded prizes of up to $100,000.

About Big Sisters AI

  • Big Sister AI was founded in 2022 by Valentyn and Lyudmila Yaromenko. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, the company also runs a development center in Kyiv. The team consists of six people, including the founders. The product officially launched in the summer of 2024.
  • According to CrunchBase, in January 2023, the startup secured private investments with a pre-money valuation of $10 million. The investor and deal size have not been disclosed. However, Big Sister is known as a portfolio company of Capital Factory, a Texas-based micro-VC firm whose average check size, according VCArchive, ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.
  • In March 2024, the company opened an Early Seed round. At that time, Big Sister already counted seven paying clients, was piloting with a major enterprise customer, and was undergoing acceleration at Oracle & Plug and Play.
  • In January 2025, it was revealed that Ukrainian unicorn Creatio became a Big Sister client. Creatio itself raised $200 million in 2024 at a $1.2 billion valuation.

«Taking this victory into account, we’ve now raised $460,000. This provides a solid foundation for our $1M early-seed round, which is currently in progress. Our main focus is on the product and organic growth, so the $100,000 prize will serve as a strategic tool for us. We plan to invest it in development and, importantly, in strengthening ties with local partners, advisors, and clients in Dallas,» Valentyn Yaromenko told Scroll.media.
