Ukraine Launches DOT-Chain: A New Digital Marketplace for Defense Weapons

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has unveiled DOT-Chain Defense, an innovative digital platform designed to accelerate and simplify the supply of weapons to the country’s defense forces. The launch was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. One billion hryvnias has been allocated for test purchases.

What is known?

  • DOT-Chain Defense works like a modern marketplace: it allows weapons to be ordered and delivered without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Ten brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will participate in the pilot phase.
  • The Ministry of Defense has allocated UAH 1 billion to the Defense Procurement Agency to test the platform. With these funds, brigades will be able to order FPV drones through the marketplace — with other types of UAVs, electronic warfare equipment, and robotic systems to follow soon.
  • Each military unit can choose exactly what it needs to fulfill its tasks. The Defense Procurement Agency handles financing and delivery, promising to cut red tape and reduce delivery times from months to just weeks.

«DOT-Chain Defense is a transparent, competitive, and fully digitized system. It is based on the army’s food supply model, which has already proven its effectiveness,» said Umerov.

How the system works

  • The military can select, order, and reserve the necessary equipment, track delivery times, leave feedback, and get quick responses. Manufacturers receive a clear mechanism for working with the state and the army, plus direct feedback from frontline units.

  • The state gains real-time visibility into the needs of the front, enabling data-driven decisions, supporting the development of the defense industry, and encouraging innovation.

In April, the Ministry of Digital Transformation also launched Brave1 Market, a technology marketplace for the Ukrainian military. It allows units to independently choose and buy the equipment they need using military funds.
