Playtika Cuts 15% of Staff in New Global Layoff Wave
Playtika, an Israeli game developer, is cutting another 15% of its workforce. This marks the company’s sixth round of layoffs and will also affect its team in Ukraine. Why Playtika is cutting jobs again
- Playtika CEO Robert Antokol informed employees about the layoffs in a letter that was shared with the channel. In it, he said the cuts «reflect a fundamental shift» in how the company operates. Instead of maintaining teams with excess staffing, Playtika plans to move toward «streamlined teams powered by AI and automation.»
«If we don’t adjust our cost structure today, we will jeopardize our ability to invest in tomorrow,» the CEO wrote. He added that funding will be shifted away from «mature titles» toward the development of new projects.
- The company’s priorities include utilizing AI to optimize operations, enhance efficiency, and retain top talent. According to Antokol, a «more compact structure» will allow Playtika to offer «better compensation, clearer career paths, and a stronger culture for the remaining team.»
- Employees who are laid off will receive compensation packages and support, though specific details were not disclosed in the letter.
Background
This is not Playtika’s first wave of job cuts. Since 2022, the company has carried out five previous rounds of layoffs, affecting approximately 1,000 employees. The most recent round took place in December 2025 and hit Playtika’s Ukrainian offices in particular.
