HIMERA Raises $2.5 Million in Seed Round
HIMERA, a Ukrainian developer of tactical communications systems, has raised a new investment round, Defender Media reports.
- The company secured $2.5 million in funding. Prior to this round, HIMERA had already raised just under $1 million.
- The seed round included participation from UA1 VC, Varangians, Green Flag Ventures, Freedom Fund, and several other investment firms and funds.
- HIMERA began raising seed funding about a year ago but ultimately decided to increase the size of the round as a new vision matured within the team and resonated with investors.
- The company does not disclose sales figures, but says the business is growing in line with the expectations of both the team and its investors.
«We realized that the problem of tactical communications is only part of a much larger challenge — building the architecture of future warfare and defense, where automation and real-time data transmission are critical,» said HIMERA founder Misha Rudominski.
According to Rudominski, that vision is difficult to implement today because existing communications systems are highly fragmented. Military units use one set of channels, situational awareness systems such as Delta and Kropyva operate on another, UAVs on a third, and UGVs on a fourth. This has created what he describes as a «zoo» of communications systems that are difficult to integrate, resulting in a major interoperability challenge for the military.
HIMERA’s updated vision calls for the continued evolution of its communications solutions toward a Comprehensive Resilient Network. This unified system would enable all devices and sensors to transmit and receive data and commands under combat conditions within a single communications framework.
