“Ukraine has been the R&D lab for AI in a military context”: Palantir’s UK Head, Louis Mosley
Louis Mosley, head of Palantir in the UK, says Ukraine is currently one of the world’s leading hubs for artificial intelligence development in the defense sector. He shared his insights in an interview with Bloomberg.
According to Mosley, Ukraine’s chronic shortage of weapons and resources forces the country to innovate constantly in combat.
«Ukraine has been the R&D lab for AI in a military context for the last three years. It is the absolute bleeding edge of military technology. There is no substitute for a real battlefield. You can build things in the laboratory, you can test them, but you don’t know whether they really work until you’ve seen it on the battlefield, and Ukraine sadly is where that is currently happening,» Mosley explained.
He compared the use of AI in modern warfare to the launch of mass radar production during World War II.
Palantir has been operating in Ukraine since 2022, providing data solutions to the Ukrainian military. The company, however, keeps details of its operations largely confidential.
Palantir has recently been the star of financial news stories. Its shares have surged multiple times over the past year, giving the company a valuation of nearly $490 billion — a pace unmatched by any other S&P 500 firm. At the same time, its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio stands at an extraordinary 85, far above that of any other company in the index.
