Ford Sinclair, a family-owned company based in Essex and the organizer of the AIM Awards, PLC Awards, UK Tech Awards, European Mediscience Awards, and Private Business Awards, has replaced its fragmented legacy systems with a fully integrated digital solution built in partnership with Relevant Software.
The new solution now supports more than 1,000 nominations per programme and guest lists of up to 1,300 attendees, while maintaining transparency for judges, convenience for administrators, and consistency for sponsors.
Key features include:
- Unified CMS that powers websites, brochures, and nomination portals from a single backend, ensuring consistency across every channel.
- Event Rollover that carries categories, sponsors, and permissions into new seasons, reducing setup time from weeks to hours.
- Website Builder for nomination portals and landing pages, with ready-made sections and flexible editing tools.
- Guest Booking and seating management, along with digital tickets and fast check-in, provide a smooth and reliable experience for every attendee.
To achieve this, Relevant Software employed a data-driven approach and designed the platform based on modern engineering practices. Using Infrastructure as Code, the team delivered multiple websites and nomination portals powered by a single backend. Microservices were used for email services, while GraphQL enabled shared backends across different frontends with distinct purposes. Security and identity management were ensured through AWS Cognito and the wider AWS stack.
Development followed short Scrum cycles, first launching a minimum viable product, then adding features until it became a full production platform. In just three months, real-life testing helped refine the system into a stable, scalable solution.
