“The Damage Is Very Serious.” LIFT99 Kyiv Hub Suffers in Russian Attack

During Russia’s overnight assault on Kyiv on August 28, the coworking space LIFT99 Kyiv Hub, a well-known home for startups and tech entrepreneurs, sustained heavy damage.

The news was first reported by Artem Borodatiuk, founder of FRACTAL (formerly Netpeak Group), whose team rents office space inside LIFT99.

«In the photos is our office at LIFT99 Kyiv Hub after the Russian missile strike. The blast hit nearby, shattering windows, damaging furniture, and equipment. Fortunately, our other office, FRACTAL HUB, was not affected,» Borodatiuk wrote.

He added that this was not the first time his company had been hit. Earlier, Netpeak’s offices in Kharkiv were also damaged by Russian shelling.

«These are the conditions in which Ukrainian businesses have been forced to operate for the fourth year in a row,» Borodatiuk noted. «I wonder how many more successful impressions of a terrorist country the free democratic world needs before it simply provides all the weapons required to fight this cancerous tumor.»

Other offices hit

By midday, more reports emerged. The offices of Endeavor Ukraine and Mission Possible, located near LIFT99, were also damaged.

«Our office in Lift99 Kyiv Hub, which has been a home of innovation and entrepreneurship for us, was also hit. Endeavor Ukraine and Mission Possible are here alongside a cohort of startups in acceleration, as well as entrepreneurs, businesses, and civic organizations working on Ukraine’s development. What the Russians destroyed last night was my iMac, several Forbes and Wired magazines, my Forbes 30 Under 30 statuette, and a painting by a Ukrainian artist gifted to me for my birthday,» said Sviatoslav Sviatnenko.

He also said that no one from the team was injured.

«The damage is very serious»

LIFT99 Kyiv was launched by Estonian entrepreneur Ragnar Saas — founder of the Salto marketplace, co-founder of Pipedrive CRM, and co-founder of Garage48 HUB. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Saas has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine, even driving vehicles from Estonia and Ireland to the Armed Forces.

Speaking to Scroll.media, Saas confirmed the scale of the destruction:

«Unfortunately, the damage is very serious. We are working non-stop to analyze the impact and create a plan to restore everything as soon as possible.»

The attack on LIFT99 came as part of one of the largest overnight strikes on Ukraine since the war began. On August 28, Russia launched 629 drones and missiles across the country. Kyiv was hardest hit, with more than 20 locations across seven districts targeted.
