Ukrainian Deftech Startup MaXon Secures $350k to Fight Drone Threats

Ukrainian defense tech startup MaXon has closed its first investment round, raising $350,000 from venture capital firms Freedom Fund and Defender Ventures, DOU reports.

  • MaXon is part of the Brave1 defense technology cluster and is developing an air-to-air defense system equipped with its own guidance technology and high-speed interceptors.
  • The system is designed to protect large areas from drone attacks and is already undergoing combat testing in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
  • According to the team, the main objective is to deliver an automated, scalable, and relatively affordable solution for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  • The system integrates technologies from other Brave1 participants, such as Aerobavovna, OKO Camera, and Dremian, allowing for the rapid combination of advanced innovations into deployable solutions.
  • The newly raised funds will go toward accelerating R&D, preparing for serial production, and expanding the team.
  • MaXon is also planning a follow-on fundraising round to scale production and add new capabilities to the system.

Meanwhile, Brave1 recently announced the launch of Brave1 Club, a streamlined entry point to the ecosystem for established companies and manufacturers that do not require grant support.
