Danish Terma and Ukrainian Odd Systems to Create AI-Based Drone Interceptor
Odd Systems, a Ukrainian defense-tech company specializing in the development and production of thermal imaging cameras and FPV drones, has announced a partnership with Danish defense giant Terma Group to jointly develop an affordable AI-based drone interceptor.

Odd Systems has not disclosed any investment figures or further details of the collaboration but confirms that its R&D team is already working on the project. «Real work is already underway,» Odd Systems told Scroll.media.
- The demand for such an interceptor is clear: with drones playing an ever-growing role on the battlefield, there is an urgent need for effective kinetic means to counter them.
- The challenge lies in combining the detection, tracking, and interception of enemy UAVs using another autonomous system. The range of threats is wide — from FPV and tactical ISR quadcopters (like Mavic) to operational ISR fixed-wing drones (like Zala) and long-range strike drones (like Shahed)
- Terma and Odd Systems plan to merge their existing solutions and jointly develop a suite of products to counter these and other aerial threats.
«As Denmark’s largest defense company, operating in all key domains — air, sea, land, and space — Terma brings decades of manufacturing experience across a wide range of defense solutions. The company is also known for its integration capabilities and work with various sensors. Odd Systems contributes its expertise in FPV drones, thermal imaging cameras, and its cooperation with the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine to create a scalable and reliable platform to counter the growing drone threat in modern warfare,» the release says.
As a manufacturing and R&D company, Odd Systems supplies the Horska-12 FPV air interceptor platform, as well as the Stus-7 and Lupynis-10 strike FPV platforms, which come equipped with UAVs and UCAVs in both day and night configurations. The company also designs and produces the Kurbas-256 and Kurbas-640 thermal imaging cameras in Ukraine, which rank among the world’s top thermal cameras for defense FPVs by several key performance metrics.
- Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Kyiv, Odd Systems focuses on developing and manufacturing advanced thermal imaging cameras and FPV drones. Its product lineup includes the Kurbas-256 and Kurbas-640 cameras, the Stus-7, Lupynis-10, and Horska-12 drones, among others. The company’s co-founder is Yaroslav Azhniuk.
- Terma A/S is Denmark’s largest producer of defense and aerospace products for civilian and military applications, employing over 2,000 people worldwide. Its portfolio includes radar systems, avionics, and space electronics that help customers enhance safety and operational efficiency across land, sea, air, and space domains.
