Esper Bionics, a Ukrainian manufacturer of bionic prostheses, has announced the release of Esper Hand 2, the next iteration of the company’s smart prosthetic hand. The product was unveiled in May 2025, alongside the opening of a waiting list for applicants.
According to the company, Esper Hand 2 retains its sleek, anatomical design and now feels even more intuitive to use.
«We are excited to introduce the Esper Hand 2! This next-generation device brings the latest in tech innovation — with so many updates, it deserves a new name,» reads the video description on Esper Bionics’ official YouTube channel.
Key features of the new device include:
- Water resistance: Esper Hand 2 works in the rain and allows the user to wash their hands or dishes without worry.
- Enhanced grip: Strong aluminum fingers provide a more secure hold and better object control.
- Larger touch surfaces: Expanded touch areas on the fingers enable convenient and precise control.
- Longer battery life: An increased battery capacity keeps the prosthesis operating smoothly throughout the day.
- Integrated pattern recognition: Equipped with EMG sensors and an AI-based control system, Esper Hand learns the user’s behavior and predicts movements for smoother, more natural operation.
- Upgraded app: Esper Bionics has also updated its mobile app for easier control and customization of the prosthesis.

Esper Hand gained international recognition in 2022 when it was featured on the cover of TIME magazine as one of the best inventions of the year. At the time, the company revealed it was already developing the next version of its prosthetic hand.
